About our facilities
The Centre has a large Main Hall (with stage). The hall is suitable for badminton, table tennis, large meetings, exhibitions, parties, etc. A smaller room known as ‘The Sarney Room’ is available for smaller meetings and is carpeted. There is a small kitchen, male & female toilets, disabled toilet with baby changing facilities and a small car park outside that is entered from The Common.
The Centre is normally available for hire from 09:00 to 23:00, 7 days a week (except Christmas Day). In exceptional circumstances other times may be booked, but an additional charge may be made as we may need to make special arrangements with our cleaning and security contractors.
The size of the Sarney Room is 9m x 9m (30′ x 30′). It is carpeted. One wall is suitable for projecting images. The maximum capacity is approximately 70 people. There are 50 black cushioned stackable chairs. (Other folding chairs are available from the main hall if required – these are on a trolley for easy moveability). There are 12 stackable tables 1.2m x 0.60m (4′ x 2′) and 7 square tables 0.60m x 0.60m (2′ x 2′).
The size of the hall is 17.5m x 9m (57′ x 30′). The maximum capacity is approximately 180 people. The hall is suitable for badminton, table tennis, keep fit, dance classes, amateur dramatics, large meetings, exhibitions, parties, etc. The hall is high enough to take a small bouncy castle if you wish to hire from an outside supplier. We do not allow ball games due to the hall having side lights. There is a serving hatch that leads to the kitchen.
There are 10 large folding tables 1.8m x 0.75m (6′ x 2′ 6″) and 2 smaller folding tables 1.2m x 0.60m (4′ x 2′) and 150 red folding chairs.
The kitchen has a large single electric oven with 5 hobs. There are two electric kettles, 1 x electric urn (needs 20 mins to heat up), small fridge, 1 microwave.
A broom, mop, dustpan & brush, carpet sweeper and vacuum cleaner is also available to use. Users should be aware from the Terms & Conditions that all rubbish must be taken away.
Please be aware that you may need to share the kitchen facilities with another group using a different part of the building.
The Community Centre facilities are used by a wide range of clubs, e.g., badminton, table tennis, drama, Paperback & Jigsaw Library, Ladies Club and Women’s Institute.
The Centre is also used by commercial businesses and local groups for regular activities such as: children’s yoga classes, fitness classes, pilates, dance classes, children’s music classes, slimming classes and watercolour classes.
For a modest charge, the Centre can be also be hired for: Children’s Parties, Amateur Dramatics, Bingo, Craft Fairs, Dances, Exhibitions, Jumble Sales, Musical Events, Meetings, Private Parties, Quiz Nights, Tabletop Sales, etc. We regret that we are unable to accommodate teenage parties.
